Hampstead Area water’s source of water comes from many bedrock wells spread around Southern New Hampshire’s countryside. This water is then thoroughly treated to stay well within water quality requirements.
Currently Hampstead Area Water operates and maintains water systems in 10 communitites throughout Southern New Hampshire. These communities include Atkinson, Hampstead, Salem, Kingston, East Kingston, Chester, Sandown, Danville, Nottingham, and Plaistow. The Hampstead System and the Atkinson System remain the two largest in operation, known as "core" systems, while all of the other systems are considered stand-alone systems. The two "core" systems are comprised of many bedrock wells and pump stations interconnected by miles of PVC water lines. The stand-alone systems are comprised of a cluster of wells and a single pump house providing water to a subdivision or small community.
