– IMPORTANT NOTICE –
TEMPORARY WATERING BAN
ALL OUTDOOR WATERING IS PROHIBITED – IRRIGATION SYSTEMS & LAWN WATERING MUST BE DISCONTINUED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
~ Atkinson – *Including Dearborn Ridge (see below)
~ Hampstead & East Hampstead
Effective: Until Further Notice
Reason: Severe Drought Conditions
End of Ban: Currently Undetermined
Due to the severe drought conditions and lack of substantial rainfall in the near weather forecast, Hampstead Area Water Company, Inc (HAWC) is forced to place a temporary watering ban on all outdoor watering.
Irrigation systems and lawn watering must be discontinued. Hand-held hoses and watering cans will be permitted for use in your vegetable and flower gardens.
Previously in effect was the yearly odd/even schedule with restriction of times during those days. Due to the severe drought conditions as well as non-compliance of the odd/even watering policy, the water supply continues to diminish making the new watering ban necessary.
Please be advised that the watering ban will be strictly enforced. The first offense will result in a written notice for failure to comply. Subsequent offenses will result in disconnection of water service as well as fees. For further questions or violations please contact our office at 362-4299.
Any and all water conservation in addition to the ban is appreciated. We would like to thank you in advance for your assistance in following this temporary watering ban.
For more information about water conservation check out the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Partnership Program “WaterSense“. HAWC is a proud partner of the WaterSense program.
*DEARBORN RIDGE is currently under a complete water ban – NO OUTDOOR WATERING PERMITTED (this includes lawns, vegetable and flower gardens) until further notice.
