Ensuring Clean, Reliable Water Through Routine System Maintenance

The Hampstead Area Water Company, Inc. will continue our annual Fall Water System Flushing on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025. This essential maintenance helps ensure continued water quality and system reliability for our customers. By flushing our water mains, we remove naturally occurring minerals and sediment that can accumulate over time.

This helps keep your water clean, fresh, and flowing efficiently throughout the year.

Flushing Schedule

  •  Waterford Village in Sandown: 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM
  • Wells Village in Sandown: 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Why Do We Flush?

  • Maintain water quality by removing naturally occurring minerals and sediment such as iron, manganese, and buildup.
  • Improve system performance and water pressure.
  • Prevent long-term accumulation and extend the life of the water system.

Regulatory Compliance

Flushing is performed in accordance with the New Hampshire Department of Energy (NH DOE) and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES).

Routine flushing is encouraged by both agencies as a critical step in maintaining the safety and reliability of public water systems.

During flushing, you may notice temporary water pressure fluctuations or discoloration. To minimize inconvenience, we recommend limiting water use during the scheduled times. If you notice discoloration afterward, simply run your cold water for 15 minutes this usually clears the system. Please note that your water remains safe for use throughout this process.

We greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation as we perform this important maintenance.
