π§ Fall Water System Flushing Notice - September 21st–24th, 2026 π§
The Hampstead Area Water Company, Inc. (HAWC) will continue Routine Fall System Flushing on Monday, September 21st, 2026. Routine flushing will continue at various HAWC water systems throughout the month of September. This essential maintenance helps ensure continued water quality and reliability by removing naturally occurring minerals and sediment, improving system performance, and extending the life of the water distribution system. Customers in the affected areas will also receive an automated call at the phone number on file prior to their scheduled flushing date.
The schedule below reflects the systems scheduled for flushing from Monday, September 21st through Thursday, September 24th, 2026.

Timing Note: 10:00 AM entries have a 10:00 AM–3:00 PM flushing window. These starting times may be delayed if the 8:00 AM work runs long or unexpected conditions arise.
Why Do We Flush?
- Maintain water quality by removing iron, manganese, and sediment.
- Improve system performance and maintain optimal water pressure.
- Prevent long-term buildup and extend the overall lifespan of the water distribution system.
Regulatory Compliance
All flushing activities are performed in accordance with the guidelines of the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NH DES), which identifies routine flushing as an essential component in maintaining the safety, quality, and reliability of public water systems.
What to Expect During Flushing
During this time, you may experience temporary water pressure fluctuations or slight discoloration. We recommend minimizing water use while flushing is in progress.
If you notice discoloration, running cold water for several minutes typically resolves the issue. Please be assured the water remains safe for use.
