🚧 System Flushing Notice – Atkinson & Hampstead 🚧

May 4 – May 15, 2026 | Daily Flushing from 8 AM – 4 PM

The Hampstead Area Water Company, Inc. (HAWC) will be performing routine System Flushing in Atkinson and Hampstead starting Monday, May 4, 2026, through Friday, May 15, 2026. During this time, Operators will be flushing targeted areas of the water distribution system. Not all customers will be affected during this two-week period.


What to Expect

🕗 Flushing Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Daily


While flushing is taking place in your area, you may experience:

  • Temporary reduced water pressure
  • Discolored water


What You Should Do

💧 If you notice discoloration after 4:00 PM, please run your cold-water tap for 10–15 minutes to help flush your lines.


Why Do We Flush?

  • Maintain water quality by removing iron, manganese, and sediment.
  • Improve system performance and maintain optimal water pressure.
  • Prevent long-term buildup and extend the overall lifespan of the water distribution system
  • All flushing activities are performed in accordance with the guidelines of the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES), which identifies routine flushing as an essential component in maintaining the safety, quality, and reliability of public water systems.
