2026 Fall Water System Flushing Notice

The Hampstead Area Water Company (HAWC) will begin its annual Fall Water System Flushing in September 2026. This essential maintenance helps ensure continued water quality and reliability by removing naturally occurring minerals and sediment, improving system performance, and extending the life of the water distribution system.

Why Do We Flush?

  • Maintain water quality by removing iron, manganese, and sediment.
  • Improve system performance and maintain optimal water pressure.
  • Prevent long-term buildup and extend the overall lifespan of the water distribution system.

Regulatory Compliance

All flushing activities are performed in accordance with the guidelines of the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NH DES), which identifies routine flushing as an essential component in maintaining the safety, quality, and reliability of public water systems.

If you notice discoloration, running cold water for several minutes typically resolves the issue. Please be assured the water remains safe for use.
